WRPI: A Personal Memoir
by STEVEN R. STATON

Photos
In the Spring of 1982, I took the following image in front of the
entrance to WRPI (in the Communications Center) of several members of
WRPI, including: Mark Amidon '82, Sharon Fisher '82, John
Lattyak '84, Mike
Weisberg '83, Lisa (Corso) Swanson
'85, Ken Anderson, and two others whose names escape me.

During the GM Week of 1982, WRPI entered the traditional Chariot
Races (hosted by the Greek Council) with a rather unorthodox vehicle.
Constructed from two spools used to transport FM transmitter conduit,
it was taller than the passenger (Lisa (Corso) Swanson) who remained
all but invisible during the actual race.
WRPIites in this picture (from left to right):
- Fred "the" Bauer '82 (behind spool).
- John Lattyak '84.
- Richard Glassberg '84.
- Lisa (Corso) Swanson '85.
- Michael Weisberg '83.
- Floyd Chapel.

One of the landmarks of RPI during my time in Troy was the famous
Rickey sculpture titled Two Rectangles, Vertical Gyratory Up,
otherwise known as The
Chrinitoid.

A mainstay of the RPI campus in 1983-4 was an Korean sidewalk vendor
whose loud, pointed sales pitch, "You want hot dog?" was a
common sight for all RPI students and faculty. I chose to remember this
woman with a photo in 1984, taken in front of the RPI Union building
on 15th Street.
